IDF@SV, 2015, Program Fees

The program fees for IDF@SV are set to make the joys of dancing in the Festival accessible to everyone. Full & partial scholarships are available. Deadline for applications is June 30. Here is a list of fees for all classes and events. Early Bird cut off date is July 10, 2015, in all categories. For more information please email livelyfoundation@sbcglobal.net or call 650/969-4110.

For all M2F© workshops, 8/10-8/14: Early Bird: $304; Regular: $354 (to Aug. 3); After Aug. 3: $379

Full Day of Dance©, 8/15, Prices per class reduce with each added class:

Early Bird: $20 single class/$36 for 2/$48 for 3/$56 for 4/$60 for 5/$72 for 6/$72 for 7 — Regular fee: $25 single class/$40 for 2/$54 for 3/$64 for 4/$75 for 5/$78 for 6/$77 for 7

Part-time enrollment: Single M2F© workshop: $134; Two M2F© workshops: $265.50 Please note that Part-time enrollees are not eligible for scholarships or for Early Bird or other discounts.

Festival Preview, 8/9, offers a Dunham Technique (Afro-Haitian) class and a Salsa Class. Single Class is $25; both classes for $36. For dancers taking all the M2F© workshops either class is $12.50, take both for $25.

Festival Concert, 8/16, General Admission: $15; Over 65 & under 10: $10; Sponsor ticket: $25 guarantees best seats and includes a $10 tax deductible donation.

FESTIVAL PREVIEW: Sunday, AUGUST 9, Features 2 drop-in classes, Afro-Haitian/Dunham Technique, and Cuban Salsa. No partner needed. FREE COFFEE TASTING PRESENTED BY GAVINA GOURMET COFFEE, FREE SALSA PERFORMANCE LED BY SENSUOUS, FABULOUS SALSA-ISTA, LEANNE RINELLI.

M2F© INTENSIVE WORKSHOPS: MON-FRI, AUGUST 10-14, practice technique & learn repertory in Classical Chinese Dance, Contemporary Dance, Cuban Salsa, Afro-Haitian/Dunham Tech, and the all new Choreo-Cubator© which is your opportunity to create or polish your own dance. Classical Chinese Dance is offered in two classes: one for ages 12-14, one for mid-teens to any adult age. M2F© workshops are best for intermediate to advanced/professional dancers. You might be advanced in contemporary but a newbie in Chinese, that’s fine. Choreo-Cubator© dancers show their work on Aug. 14, 6 p.m.

FULL DAY OF DANCE©: Saturday, Aug. 15, The Original, Wonderful Full Day offers 7 open master classes. All are mixed levels. Take something you love; try something new. Classes start at 9 a.m.; end at 5 p.m. Take one or more. Best Deal & Most Fun: take them all. Price per class reduces with each added class. 1) FREE Home Stays in the charming, residential neighborhood near our center. Within walking distance for all classes and rehearsals. 2) FRIENDLY FRIEND FEE: bring a friend with you and both of you receive a discounted rate 3) EARLY BIRD FEE: You will still have time to apply with the Early Bird fee, another big discount. So, if you receive a partial scholarship, you can save more by getting the Early Bird rate, too.

Leslie Friedman: WHY? BECAUSE, A Dance of World War I

The San Francisco Browning Society will present Leslie Friedman on Friday, May 8, 2 p.m. at The Sequoias, 1400 Geary Blvd., San Francisco. Dr. Friedman will give a talk about the creation of her dance, WHY? BECAUSE, and its relationship to World War I. She will also show the dance. The music is Sir Edward Elgar’s ‘Cello Concerto, the Adagio and Allegro movements. This two part dance was premiered as part of Dances at the Henge, part of the official programming of Britain Meets the Bay, organized by the British Council, in San Francisco. Tributes to this extraordinary dance have come from critics and audience members alike. Leslie Friedman received the Best Solo Performance Award from the Dean Goodman Choice Awards, 2001, for her performance of WHY? BECAUSE.

“In the first movement, she is a memorial come to life, carrying bouquets of red paper poppies made by veterans. In the second, she is the innocents, eager and young, who see horrors they could never anticipate. The vivid imagery of her inventive movement will never let me think of war without recalling this dancer who knows how to move as though she has lost her legs.”

Here’s the poster for WWW 1.0 It’s the first Wonderful Winter Workshop of IDF@SV. The International Dance Festival@Silicon Valley wants everyone –beginners & pros–to dance and have a wonderful time. Send a check to The Lively Foundation/550 Mountain View Avenue/Mountain View, CA 94041-1941. Prices are very reasonable, and the more classes you take the less they cost per class. Here’s the break down: $25 single class/$40 for 2/$54 for 3/$64 for 4/$75 for 5/$78 for 6/$77 for 7/AND $77 for ALL EIGHT! What you are looking at for example is paying $15 per class for 5 Master Classes with artist/teachers who are here to make you shine. OR Take all 8 classes and each class costs only $9.60. WWW. = Wonderful Winter Workshop

The International Dance Festival@Silicon Valley presents WWW. a wonderful winter workshop. Open Master Classes led by beloved artist/teachers will help you to dance into the New Year! Classes will be offered on Sunday afternoon, January 18, and Tuesday evening, January 20. Artist/teachers are coming from around the country to participate. We welcome back Leanne Rinelli from New York and Leslie Arbogast from San Diego. All classes take place at the Festival HQ: the Mountain View Masonic Center, 890 Church Street, Mtn. View. All classes are mixed levels. A prima ballerina might be a complete beginner at salsa; a salsa dancer will love to learn Dunham technique. Do what you love; try something new to you. Classes offered will include:

Salsa – NO partner necessary; Line Dances – NO partner necessary; Dunham Technique – Katherine Dunham introduced Afro-Haitian & Afro-Cuban dance to the US; Pilates mat – no previous experience required, a great body tune up for Pilates lovers or newbies; Contemporary -technique & repertory.

The price per class reduces with each added class. For example, Early Bird fee for a single class is $20. EB fee for two classes is $36 ($18 X 2). The fees continue like that except for the fee for 7 classes which is $63. TAKE ALL THE CLASSES AND ONE OF THEM WILL BE FREE!!!!! WHAT A GREAT DEAL!!!!! EARLY BIRD fees available until Jan. 3, 2015. We are making this easy for you to come and dance: the two dates are not priced separately. Take one class on the 18th and three on the 20th and you get the rate for four classes.
