We have received so many wonderful comments about the performances of Jonathan Clark, singer, Emmit Powell & the Gospel Elites, and dancer, artistic director Leslie Friedman; here are just a few. We will add more in later blog entries.
“I thoroughly enjoyed the performance--a varied performance that appealed to all. The variety of performers was superb. The gospel singers got our spirits moving. Jonathan Clark was in excellent voice with an accompanist who was sympatico with him. I particularly liked his singing of “Siboney”. His singing made me feel sentimental and nostalgic.
I was happy that you ( Leslie Friedman) performed “Rosa’s Dance.” The first time I saw you, you danced that dance at Margaret Jenkins’ studio on Mission and 15th sts. Your dancing blew me away and still does to this day. I was impressed with your choreography and dancing to “Heartland” with its complex rhythmic structure. I love your dancing and you topped it off with my all-time favorite, “Irreplaceable” to Ella Fitzgerald’s best ever recording of that song (Embraceable You). You know good music.
Congratulations on a memorable performance.”

“Boy, you are amazing (to Leslie Friedman)--such energy and stamina--really a great job. I really enjoyed the program.”

“You really got my attention during the dance “irreplaceable” in the white gown. I was inspired to want to join you for a dance on stage, that is until your dance partner showed up (smile)” Oliver Ewing, Jr.
