On Tuesday, April 7, about 100 students and their teachers travelled from Laneview School in the Berryessa district of San Jose to Mountain View to watch The Lively Foundation’s performance of The Gold Rush.
It took them an hour and a half to make the trip by public transportation and walking, and it was the one rainy day we’ve had for ages. Nevertheless, everyone had a great time watching the entertaining yet educational program with songs, dances, narrations taken from letters written in the mining fields, and projections of archival photos.
What wonderful kids! After watching the performance, they helped clear the room, stack the chairs, pull in tables, and enjoyed an indoor picnic in the Mountain View Masonic Lodge’s ballroom. They were a great audience, and great helpers, too.
Many thanks to Ms. Samantha Rainer, teacher, who organized the field trip for her school and also to our Lively donors who make such important events possible. Watch the livelyblog for pictures!
