The Palace of the Legion of Honor Museum, San Francisco, will present Jonathan Clark as the Reva and David Logan Lecturer, Thursday, March 18, 6:30 p.m. Jonathan will speak on KENNETH PATCHEN: Painted Books & Picture Poems.
Jonathan Clark is a photographer and fine art printer whose works are in important collections including the Museum of Modern Art, New York City; the Smithsonian Institution, Washington, D.C.; the National Library of France, Paris, France; as well as other distinguished institutions and individuals.
He is also the Co-Editor of The Hedgehog, the international arts review, published by The Lively Foundation. Among The Hedgehog’s subscribers are the New York Public Library, the San Francisco Public Library ( Main Branch ), the Getty Library & Museum.
As a young person, Mr. Clark became the personal friend of Kenneth Patchen, an important American poet. This lecture offers a unique opportunity to learn about Patchen’s art through someone who knew him well. The Museum’s current exhibition of Patchen’s Painted Books was made entirely from objects in Jonathan Clark’s private collection.
