The Lively Foundation performed THE GOLD RUSH! an entertaining yet painlessly educational program for the Ohlone School, Palo Alto, March 26. The performance includes music that was popular in the 1850s (Darling Clementine was one), dances, period costumes, narration taken from letters written in the mining fields, and projections of archival photographs, prints, and paintings made in the era that made California.
This spring, Lively is already scheduled to perform The Gold Rush! in Sunnyvale, San Jose, and Tiburon.
There is still time to bring Lively’s Gold Rush to your organization or school.
Lively performers this spring include Jonathan Clark, technical director, singer, banjo player and creator of the photographic projections; Audreyanne Delgado; Terese Hoibye; and Artistic Director Leslie Friedman who created the program.
The Gold Rush! was first performed as part of San Francisco’s celebration of the 150th Anniversary of The Gold Rush. It was performed in the Civic Center, Veterans’ Building, March, 1999. It is appropriate for general audiences; for school groups we just shorten it to fit school schedules.
